Two die, 8 injured in Benin-Asaba road auto crash

BENIN—TWO persons were yesterday killed in an automobile accident at Asagba village, along the ever busy Benin- Asaba highway.

Eight others were also seriously injured in the accident. Eyewitness account said the neck of one of the victims was severed in the crash.

Vanguard gathered that the  accident, which occurred at about 10:30 am, involved a commercial Toyota Hiace bus with registration number XC 773 KAK and a Mack trailer with registration number  XQ 183 GL.Witnesses said the commercial bus which was over-speeding ran into the rear of the trailer  carrying iron rods.

It was learnt that all the ten persons involved in the accident were occupants of the Toyota Hiace bus.

Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr. Henry Olatunji, who confirmed the accident, disclosed  that the two killed were males, while the injured,  comprising six males and two females, were taken to Narrow Way Hospital, Benin City .

He said the corpse of the dead had been deposited at Our Clinic hospital also in Benin City .
