ALHAJI Sani Dangote, viice president of the Dangote Group has denied a newspaper
publication on his indebtedness to a bank saying “I have no knowledge or association
with a company called Continental Commodities where I was mentioned as one of its
directors”.

He added: “In the said publication, Continental Commodities was alleged to
be owing some millions of naira declared as non-performing loan. The publication, which
appeared earlier in the week (last week), is false and, therefore, misleading.

It is also important to note that the editors of the newspaper have acknowledged and accepted their mistake and have assured me of a retraction as soon as possible.”

In a related development, Ben Murray-Bruce says neither he nor the company in which he is a director, International Business Concepts Limited, is owing a non-performing loan of N583,905,533.79 to Spring Bank Plc as alleged in a newspaper publication.

“I state emphatically that, at no time did International Business Concepts Limited apply for, authorize, guarantee or provide an indemnity for any loan, overdraft or other financial product whatsoever from either of Citizens Bank Limited or Spring Bank Plc; and neither has any of the Directors of International Business Concepts Limited or other  lawful agent applied for, authorized, guaranteed or provided an indemnity for any loan, overdraft or other financial product whatsoever on behalf of International Business Concepts Limited.”
