PORT HARCOURTâ€”Rivers State House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Rotimi Amaechi for his achievements in office in the last two years.
At a session of the House yesterday, presided over by the Speaker, Tonye Harry, members took time to laud what they termed the glowing achievements of the administration.
In his address, the governor, who was two-time Speaker of the House before he became governor, spoke extensively on his expenditure in the various sectors of the economy
The governor expressed delight at the peace in the state, adding that his administration would not compromise on security.
This, according to him, is one reason the government wants to develop water fronts in the state capital
He said the government would also continue with his plan to develop a greater Port Harcourt city, just as he appealed that to give way for the gigantic programme, some demolitions would take place in some of the areas marked for the city.
He urged property owners in these areas to show understanding with the government Amaechi said his administration had concluded plans to construct six lane highways from the Port Harcourt International Airport to Onne, and another from the University of Port Harcourt also to Onne
His appearance at the State House of Assembly was part of programmes lined up to mark his two years in office.
