Jos — The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has stressed the importance of the news media to the success of Federal Govern-ment’s 7-Point Agenda and the Millennium Develop-ment Goals, describing them as crucial partners towards achieving the objectives.
Director, Public Relations and Publicity of the fund, Mr. Joseph Ari, stated this at a training workshop organised for journalists in Plateau State by the fund.
“The mandate of the ITF and all its activities are in tune with the President’s 7-Point Agenda and by implication, the Millennium Development Goals. But it will be an exercise in futility without the contribution of the Fourth Estate of the realm.
“This is because whatever lofty achievements are attained by an organisation, if not recognised and acknowledged by both the public and private sector, will be in vain,†he said.
Ari said the interactive section was organised in appreciation of the cordial relationship between ITF and the Plateau State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) as well as “play a role in sharpening the professional skills of members of this great profession who also serve as the conscience of society.â€
