PETROLEUM and Natural Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), has called on government to increase budgetary allocation to the Niger Delta Ministry to aid the development of the region|

President of PENGASSAN. Comrade Babatunde Ogun. Who spoke to Sweet Crude said “.
I think the real thing now that is needed is development. If government can overnight award road contract for the expansion of the road leading to the airport because they do not want congestion or hold_up on Abuja Airport road , I am sure that same government can clearly develop Niger Delta.

If we were supposed to develop Abuja for 25 years and it was done under 10 years, the government that means well, can do wonders within a short time.  The idea of saying you are setting up a Niger Delta ministry with a start up fund of N50 billion that cannot construct a standard road, is a problem.

So if government can come out and award contracts for developmental projects in Niger Delta and money are allocated to these projects just the way they are allocating money projects in other parts of the country,  then everybody in Niger Delta would be able to come up and ask the militants,  “come, why are you still fighting? We are fighting for development and development is coming.”
