Enugu PDP: Nnamani’s faction laments rejection

By Dennis Agbo

ABAKALIKI—THE Enugu State factional chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ray Nnaji has expressed concern over the decision of the chairman of  the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC),  Mr. Abel Nwobodo to reject his faction’s list of candidates for the December 5, 2009 local government election in the state.

Nnaji, who is leading the former Governor Chiomaroke Nnamani’s faction of the PDP in the state, claimed he was not aware that the Governor Sullivan Chime’s faction led by Mr. Vita Abba,  had conducted any primaries for the purposes of the council election, warning that what ENSIEC was doing, amounted to awarding his (Nnaji) faction’s victory through the court of law to another party.

Nnaji said that ENSIEC was aware of a High Court verdict,  that proclaimed him the ‘authentic’ chairman of the PDP in Enugu State, which he said the Vita Abba group had appealed, but that ENSIEC had asked his (Nnaji) faction to obtain a letter of recognition from the National Chairman of the PDP,  Vincent Ogbulafor “even though he (Nwobodo) is aware that Ogbulafor is a party in the suit still pending in court.”
