NAPTIP begins sensitisation tour of schools in Edo

BENIN— WORRIED by incessant cases of human trafficking in Edo State, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and other Related Matters (NAPTIP), has commenced a sensitisation tour of secondary schools in the three senatorial districts of the state, urging students to shun attempts to lure them abroad for prostitution.

The Benin Zonal Head of the NAPTIP, Mrs. Adefunke Abiodun, who disclosed this in Benin City yesterday, while giving out computer sets to  winners of the under-17 Race Against Human Trafficking, stressed the need for the girl child to shun attempts by some persons to lure them abroad for prostitution.
She asserted that government would not spare anybody caught indulging in such inhuman business.

In the well attended event, Niger College and St. Maria Goretti Secondary Schools got the first and second positions respectively as the leading schools in the race against human trafficking in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Abiodun lamented the incessant cases of human trafficking in the state and urged the youths to shun any attempt to lure them into traveling abroad for prostitution.

“This sensitisation tour started on September 26and it is geared towards eradicating human trafficking in the state”.
