LAGOS — Hundreds of Ishefun Community in old Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State yesterday stormed the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja to register their protest against demolition of their houses and the relocation by the state government.
The placard-carrying protesters arrived the secretariat at about 11 a.m., singing protest songs against the government.
Numbering about 200, the protesters led by Citizen Rights Watch defied the early morning rain and laid siege at the entrance of the Lagos State House, Alausa.
Some of the inscriptions on the placards read: “BRF save our soul from demolishers; We have been rendered homeless, where do they want us to go? We are bonafide citizens of this state, why are we being persecuted?†among others.
According to them, the task force suddenly stormed their residents with bulldozers without prior notice and pulled down several buildings and structures.
Special Adviser in the Governor’s office, Mr. Sunny Ajose, who attended to the protesters on behalf of the state government appealed to them with an assurance that the state government will look into their case and act appropriately.
