*Says he plays better than some of Amodu’s players
Chief Executive Officer of Lobi Stars FC of Markudi Dominic Iorfa says the way has been paved now for Lobi to return to its glorious past. Lobi at the peak of it exitence, represented Nigeria at the continental level and did make the country proud. But a series of internal problem saw the club’s fortune take a plung.
The ex-international said, the team had to fight to escape relegation last year because of the problems that the team had to battle with. But with those problem over and a new management in place and the signing of some quality players, Iorfa believes now is the time for the Makurdi based side to fight for its pride of place in Nigerian football.
Lobi few weeks ago signed former Super Eagles midfielder Garba Lawal, a player whom Iorfa believes still has a place in Shuaibu Amodu’s Eagles team. Lawal in his first outing with the team helped them secure the maximum points. Lawal, who captained Lobi Stars to a 1-0 victory over Wikki Tourists, seeing out all 90 minutes in the process. But Iorfa, revealed not many people know that they signed some good players better than the players who left the club last season.
“This season, we signed Blessing Okadi captain of Ocean Boys, Sam Ledor, Nada and Idah from Sharks. We have a lot of good players in the team and we are happy with the results we have been getting.
Another exciting part of the team is the new management. We have privatized and things are expected to work better. The players know what is at stake, the team knows we have to make an impact in the league, so there is so much expectation. When asked about Samson Siasia’s team performance, Iorfa said he has no comment, stating that he would talk when the time is right.
