The campaigns for the successful hosting of the U-17 World Cup championship got a boost  as Lagos State Government  yesterday issued a cheque of N28 million to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the forthcoming FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be hosted by Nigeria later this month.

Chairman Local Organising Committee, Lagos Sub-seat, for the competition,  Amanze Uchegbulam made this disclose, during his visit to Governor Babatunde Fashola at the State Secretariat Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos

Uchegbulam, added that the state government had acquired 15, 000 of the 25, 000 capacity seats of the Teslim Balogun stadium with the sum of N28 million.His words: “The remaining tickets to be sold out is not more than 3, 000, calling on football lovers to buy it before it would be sold out.”

When I was telling people that the tickets for Lagos are already sold out, many thought I was joking. We ca all see now that there is vacant seats anymore.”
In her address, Deputy Governor, Princess Adebisi Sosan who received the committee, said the competition would be used to rebrand Nigeria as a good country.
Sosan said: “This is the time to show to the world our rich culture. This is the time we will let the world know that we own the game of football. We will let them know that we are very hospitable.”
The deputy governor however called on corporate organizations who had always kept their members of staff from participating in sporting activities to allow their workers to watch the tournament.
