LAGOS – GOVERNOR Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has charged the newly inaugurated members of Land Use Charge Appeal Tribunal against injustice in the course of their duties in the interest of equity.

Fashola who also inaugurated the state Wharf Landing Fee Collection Authority at the State House yesterday added: “I want to let you know that Lagosians know their right and that is why this tribunal has to be very cautious in performing this function.”

Represented by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Supo Sasore, Fashola said the job might look simple but might be difficult when it involves citizens’ right and called on members to allow people to ventilate their right.

His words: “I thank you in advance because I know how tough the job may be.”

Earlier, Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue, Mr. Ade Ipaye, said the setting up of the tribunal became necessary to create avenue for citizens to register any complaint for appropriate action.

“There have been instances in which residents complain over varying valuations on their property. The tribunal will listen to their complaints and come out with solutions.

“With the tribunal, valuation can be reviewed. Issues of classification of property in which a commercial building may be valued as residential can easily be resolved through the tribunal,” he said.

Members of the tribunal include: Mr. Ayo Odunlami (Chairman), Messrs. Sunmade Adegunle, Isiaka Balogun, Biyi Adesanya, Kunle Ogunlana, Adeyinka Omiyale and Mrs. Yetunde Yusuf.

Members of the state Wharf Landing Authority are Alhaji Mustapha Kekere-Ekun (Chairman), Mr. Owolabi Adeshina and Chairman, Ibeju-Lekki Local Council Development Area, Mr. Adebayo Balogun.
