Egwu kidnap: Police arraign two, delist others

By Ikechukwu Nnochiri
ABUJA—only two people would finally face trial for allegedly plotting to kidnap the Minister of Education, Dr Sam Egwu and the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Adetokunbo Kayode, as the police  yesterday told an Abuja high court of its intention to de-list the names of two of the accused persons from the charge sheet.

The police maintained yesterday that it would rather use two of the accused persons that would be de-listed, as prosecution witnesses in the matter.

The accused persons de-listed from the charge sheet were Aniabor Ochuko (Alias Kelly Handsome) and Chilaka Rowland (alias Peace) while the actual trial of the other two accused persons, Abdallah Alfa (Alias Ambassador) and Kingsley Njoku Obi was adjourned till November 17, this year.

It would be recalled that four of them were arrested and paraded on September 12, 2009, by men of the State Security Service (SSS), who accused them of perfecting a subterranean plan to kidnap the two Ministers.
