THE prevalence of evil in the world today does not mean that God does not exist but is a test of faith for true Christians, according to the president of God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), Brother Oseghale Emmanuel Aighalua, who admonished Christians not to allow the fear and worries of present day life to seduce them from “the firm and settled principles of Christianity”.

In an address he delivered in London at the Freedom Day Divine Service to mark the birth of Christ in October, the GKS president noted that the faith of a number of Christians was being severely tested by the problems of present day life, such as ill-health, crime, job or income loss, rent arrears, mortgage payments, accidents, career problems, education, marital insecurity, family or domestic worries, stating that their faith would not be dampened if they understand the scriptural references about the signs of the times.

He pointed out that the state of the world today was a fulfilment of Bible prophecies that the present time, known as the last days would be marked by perils, distress and perplexity, a time when “evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived”.

The cleric said at the service attended by members and friends of the church from Nigeria, UK, and other parts of Europe that Christians depart from God due to unbelief as this was a time of resolution and steadiness in the exercise of their faith.

According to him the economic and social problem of the world was in part due to the actions of so many degenerate souls who were doing havoc to their fellow human beings “because they do not believe they would be judged for their actions”.

He made reference to the work of Dr. Robert D. Hare, who, after 25 years of distinguished scientific research, wrote a book Without conscience where he vividly described a world of con artists, hustlers, rapists and other predators “who charm, lie, and manipulate their way through life”, adding, “most people are both repelled and intrigued by the images of cold-blooded, conscienceless murderers that increasingly populate our movies, television progra-mmes, and newspaper head-lines…With their flagrant criminal violation of society’s rules.”

Dr. Hare stated further that; “Individuals with this personality disorder are fully aware of the consequences of their actions and know the difference between right and wrong, yet they are terrifying-ly self-centered, remorseless, and unable to care about the feelings of others. Perhaps most frightening, they often seem completely normal to unsuspecting targets and they do not always ply their trade by killing.”
