Council fights malaria outbreak with N.5m in Jigawa

MAIGATARI (JIGAWA) — No fewer than 400 people are currently receiving treatment at Maigatari General Hospital as a result of the recent out break of malaria in Jigawa State.

The Primary Healthcare Officer of the area, Alhaji Abdulraham Isa, who disclosed this during an interview with newsmen in Maigatari, said the local government council has set aside the sum of N500,000 for the purchase and distribution of drugs to the victims. The drugs, he said, have already been distributed to them.

Supervisory Councilor for Health in the area, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, said that already the council has provided drugs to the patients at Maigatari, Galadi and Bosuwa.

Abubakar further stated that about N100,000 has also been issued out for the purchase of drugs to attack cases of whopping cough in the area.

He warned health post staff  to always fear God in the distribution of the drugs to the patients and also advised Wards Development Committee to monitor the free distribution of the drugs to patients.

Earlier, Alhaji Isyaku Abubakar Dan Ikko had urged the Jigawa State Ministry of Health to provide mosquito treated nets to the people of the council area.
