ABAKALIKI—FORMER Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, yesterday, made full consolidation in Ebonyi state politics when he chaired the 13th celebration of Ebonyi state that is usually marked together with anniversary of Nigeria Independence every October 1st.

Performing chairmanship of the function at the Abakaliki Township Stadium, the former Senate president charged all indigenes of the state to rally support with Governor Martin Elechi’s drive for peace, unity and development of the state.

Anyim stated that the state is made up of people with common destiny and common vision, emphasising that the Ebonyi vision can only be realized through collective effort. He particularly congratulated the first executive governor of the state, Dr. Sam Egwu who he extolled his virtue of hard work in setting the pace of development of the state three years after its creation.

Anyim, who has made second time major public appearances in the state after the 2003 face-of with the then Governor stated that Governor Elechi wants to rebuild Ebonyi state with the philosophy of the founding fathers, adding that as one of the founding fathers of the state, Governor Elechi understands the problem of the state better than most Ebonyians.

“He (Elechi) understands the vision of Ebonyi more than any other person, a vision of peace and unity. We should therefore rededicate ourselves to consolidation of peace and progress in the line of Ochudo (platform of peace).
