ABUJA — The Benue State Elders Forum (BSEF) has condemned the allegation of bribery being levelled at  Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State by some aggrieved politicians over the conduct of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ward congresses in Anambra State, saying: “Our son is not corrupt.”

Governor Suswan was appointed the Chairman, Anambra State Ward Congresses Committee of the PDP by the national secretariat of the party.

But the Campaign Directors of 36 of the 47 governorship aspirants, had shortly after the ward congresses alleged that the Suswam Committee collected illegal levy per ward from aspirants to the tune of over N250 million.

Reacting to the development during a session with journalists yesterday in Abuja, President, Benue State Elders Forum, Dr. Godwin Dabo Adzuana, described the allegation as wild, false, unfounded and calculated attempt by some mischief-makers to ridicule the reputation of Governor Suswam and entire people of Benue State.

Dr. Adzuana who blamed the PDP stakeholders in the state for the unruly ward congresses, urged them to bury their heads in shame following their inability to put the house in order by pruning down numbers of governorship aspirants before the conduct of the congresses.

Describing the high number of 48 governorship aspirants who participated in the ward congresses under PDP alone as outrageous and monumental in the history of the nation’s politics, Adzuana, demanded unreserved apology from the camp of the aspirants who made the allegation.

He said: “We want to condemn in very strong term the allegation by failed politicians in Anambra State who have embarked on a demonic venture to malign and damage the reputation of our governor, Mr. Gabriel Suswam”
