2010: South Africa celebrates Argentina, Maradona

The South Africa 2010 World Cup Organizing Committee is celebrating the last minute qualification of Argentina for the event.    Chief Executive Officer of the Committee, Dr Danny Jordan said after Argentina beat Uruguay Wednesday to book the last automatic ticket from the South America zone, that the presence of Argentina and Maradona will give the World Cup an added colour.

“The World Cup would not be the same without the presence of Diego Maradona and the Argentinians. With their qualification, fans at next year’s tournament will also be able to watch one of the world’s most talented players in Lionel Messi” Dr Jordan told

‘‘Argentina has become a fixture in the World Cup and as one of the biggest teams in the industry of the tournament, enjoys fanatical support at home and around the world. We look forward to welcoming their fans to South Africa”he said.
