Yenagoa—Special Adviser to Bayelsa State governor on Security, Richard Kpodoh, has said that the administration of Timipre Sylva would not be distracted by the antics of cynics who do not see anything good in its efforts at developing the state.
The present administration, he said, was committed to ensuring the overall development of the state, noting that no amount of gang-up or politicization of government policies and programmes would deter the administration from taking actions it considered best for the overall benefits of all Bayelsans.
Kpodoh, who spoke at Ogbia town at the inauguration of ward executives of Concerned Bayelsans for Timipre Sylva, Ogbia local government area chapter, weekend, said Bayelsa State was not the only state in Nigeria that had floated a bond in the capital market.
“There have been so many distractions since the inception of this administration, with a lot of people fuelling the ever-rising rumour mill blackmailing or carrying out campaigns of calumny against Chief Timipre Sylva himself or his government, especially over the issue of the controversial N100 billion bond.”
“States like Lagos and Imo have already collected over N200 billion and N50 billion bond respectively from the stock market without much ado. Yet so much fuss is being made over Governor Sylva’s attempt to collect the bond for the purpose of fast-tracking even development of the state.
“Let me emphasize that no amount of gang-up or politicization of government policies and programmes would deter this administration from taking decisions it considers best for the overall benefit of all Bayelsans,†he said.
According to him, the state government will not spare any individual or group that sets out to deliberately tarnish its image for their own selfish and pecuniary interests.
“We shall take all necessary legal and constitutional steps to protect the collective image and integrity of this regime and Bayelsa State in general,†he warned.
Kpodoh, who is the National Coordinator of Concerned Bayelsans for Timipre Sylva, urged the ward executives of the organization to resolutely discharge their responsibilities.
The governor’s aide charged the ward executives whom, he noted, were carefully chosen, to penetrate into the stronghold of the opposition with a view to ensuring that “destructive opposition members are checked while the credible ones are encouraged to proffer solutions to the myriad of problems besetting the stateâ€.
He equally urged the people to continue to support Sylva to enable him provide the needed developmental projects that would enhance the living condition of the rural communities.
