TDC, ANJET fete new Ekiti CPS

THE Governor of Ekiti State, Engineer Olusegun Adebayo Oni has been described as an inestimable and precious asset to Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria in general.

The Director-General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) made this assertion during a luncheon his corporation and Association of Travel and Tourism Journalists (ANJET) organised for the new Chief Press Secretary to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State on Sunday.

Otunba Runsewe pointed out that Governor Oni “has distinguished himself as a very responsible, responsive and civilised governor who has displayed a very robust sense of decency, humility and fear of God in governance.”

The Director-General said that Governor Oni has not allowed his exalted position to becloud his sense of civility, uprightness and reasoning.

Otunba Runsewe commended Governor Oni for fishing out credible, seasoned, reliable and professionally competent men to help him shape the form of governance in his state.

The Director-General described Mr. Ojo-Lanre as a hardworking journalist who has helped in selling the tourism potentialities of Nigeria.
“Here is a hardworking, committed and proactive journalist who has made a mark in the art of reporting tourism.”

Otunba Runsewe said that “Though we are going to miss him but we are happy that he is being called for higher service. We are not going to leave him alone, but continue to support him, his governor and state.”
Reinforcing the DG’s opinion, Mr. Andrew Okungbowa  said that “For Governor Oni to have picked Wale Ojo-Lanre as his Chief Press Secretary is a pointer to the fact that he is a talent hunter who wants the best for Ekiti State.”

He revealed that Ojo-Lanre is “a goal getter.who always go the extra mile to add value to whatever assignment he is given.”
Also, Mr. Emeka Anokwru of the Sun Newspapers said that he was not shocked that Ojo_Lanre was appointed by governor Oni as his CPS but more impressed by the Governor’s sense of putting a right peg in a right hole.

Pointing out the virtue in Governor Oni, Mr. Ikechi Uko, Publisher of African Travel Quarterly and organiser of Akwaba Travel Market said that” Going by the developmental projects being executed in Ekiti State by Governor Oni and taken note of the quality of men that is helping him to shape the affairs of the state, very soon, it will be one of the most sought after destinations in Nigeria.”

Mrs. Angela Ikizor, a travel correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) pointed out: “If Governor Oni is not a good spirited person, he will not surround himself with competent and quality professionals to join him in ruling Ekiti State.”

Mr. Jimoh Babatunde, who writes tourism and agriculture for the Vanguard Newspapers “Governor Oni has gone to fetch a credible loyalist. For me, the only stain Ojo_Lanre has is that whenever he believes in a project, a person, he is always loyal to a fault. Governor Oni will enjoy his blind loyalty.”

One of the fathers of journalism profession, Mr. Felix Adenaike said that he respects Ojo_Lanre because of two virtues I found in him, dynamism and gut which will be useful in his new post of responsibility.”

Mrs. Funke Fadugba, former Lagos NUJ Chairperson and Editor with AIT Television, assured Ojo_Lanre of the support of the media because “we know that your road will be rough.”

Also two members of the Federation of Tourism Association in Nigeria (FTAN), Mr. Tarzan Balogun, CEO, Tarzan Jetty, Lagos and Prince Femi Oluwasina, CEO, Jethro Tours commended Governor Oni for his efforts at ensuring that all the political and administrative facets of Ekiti State are headed by competent and quality men and women of honour.

To show their deep appreciation of the contributions of Ojo_Lanre to the tourism sector and ANJET, the Grand Patron of ANJET, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe presented three hospitality items, a television, a home theatre and a micro wave to the new CPS.

“We know that Ojo_Lanre is having a different task bestowed on his shoulder, hence we are happy to present to him these equipment he will need to boost his job; a television set to monitor the world; a home theatre to help him listen to stress_banishing music and a micro wave to steam his food whenever he comes home late.”

In his remark, Ojo_Lanre showed gratitude to God, Otunba Runsewe, ANJET members and the media in general for supporting his governor and his state.

He pointed out that “Governor Oni is a rare Nigerian. He has an agrarian passion to develop Ekiti State and he is doing everything humanly possible to make the state the best in Nigeria.”
