By Chidi Nkwopara

OWERRI—The Special Adviser (Political) to Imo State Governor, Chief Rex Anunobi, was booed in Owerri for castigating the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Obinna.

He had berated the Archbishop for condemning the beating of Mr. Oluokun during his sermon at a concelebrated Pontifical sung Mass at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri, held for Owerri Peoples Assembly (OPA)

Anunobi, who represented Governor Ikedi Ohakim at a function organised by OPA, described the Archbishop as “ill-informed and misadvised” on the recent brutalization of Mr. Wale Oluokun by the Chief Security Officer in Government House, Owerri.

The Special Adviser described the reports that trailed Mr. Oluokun’s dehumanization as “planted by anti- government elements in the state”, adding that the Archbishop was one of the ill-informed, misinformed and misguided clerics, who say whatever he liked from the pulpit.

The booing reached its peak thatAnunobi was forced to take his seat, Calming the people later, the chairman of the event, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho, reminded Anunobi that he was not addressing a political rally.

“The Special Adviser is not here to address a political rally. This is not the right avenue to castigate anybody, including Archbishop Obinna, who made his comments in his homily”, Ihencho said.
