ENUGU – THE Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday, marked its ten years of existence with a call on all Igbos not to relent in the ongoing non-violent struggle for the realization of the state of Biafra.
However, officials of the movement said 10 of its members were arrested by the police at Nsukka during a football march organised to mark the 10th anniversary celebration of MASSOB at Urban Girls Secondary School in the University town.
The movement held thanksgiving church services in various churches within the Biafran land yesterday, among other activities lined up to commemorate the struggle for the actualization of sovereign State of Biafra, an agitation that was started on September 13, 1999 by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.
At a church service held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Okpatu in Udi Local Government Area, Rev. Fr. Dan Okwor, who spoke on the need for Christians to maintain their Christian virtue, which has Jesus Christ as their foundation, regretted that present day Christians have derailed from Biblical and Church standards, leading to lack of fear of God among the faithful.
