Man, 24, commits suicide in Lokoja

LOKOJA – THE peaceful atmosphere of Seriki-Noma community in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital was yesterday punctured as they woke up to behold the lifeless body of a 24- year-old man dangling from  a tree in the area.

The bizarre incident, it was learnt, occurred at about 12p.m. on Saturday night  when most residents had retired to bed in the area.

Sources from the area told Vanguard that the deceased, identified as Usman, a trader at the Felele New Market was found dangling from the tree in a blue native wear with a rope round his neck.

Scores of sympathisers and passers-by were seen lamenting the unfortunate incident when Vanguard visited the scene yesterday.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mohammed Abubakar, when contacted, confirmed the development adding that it has commenced investigations to establish the rationale behind the incident.
