UYO—Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Prince Uwem Etuk, has called on the national leadership of the party to ignore agitations for the dissolution of the state executive council of the party.

This comes as the state’s caucus in the National Assembly commended President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on his policies and programmes, especially the 7-points agenda, the Niger Delta amnesty programme and the respect for the rule of law.

The state caucus of the party also rose in defence of Governor Godswill Akpabio, and condemned  all acts of blackmail, character assassination and various falsehood levelled against the person of the governor and government by some disgruntled elements targeted at distracting the government.

Rising from a meeting last weekend, the caucus in a communique, warned that it would invoke all forms of sanctions on those who go contrary to the decision.

It expressed satisfaction with the development and unprecedented achievements of Governor Akpabio within the last 26 months and resolved that he must continue in office till 2015.

A vote of confidence was also passed on the National Working Committee of the party under the leadership of Prince Vincent Ogbulafor.

Meanwhile, the state’s caucus in the National Assembly, while commending the president on his policies and programmes,  averred that  Akwa Ibom State remained the strongest PDP state in the entire country.

The caucus assured that the party was ready to deliver a free and fair election in 2011.
