Handover kidnap suspects to police, CDHR tells JTF

WARRI  — COMMITTEE for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Delta State has called on the Joint Task Force (JTF) on the Niger-Delta to handover the nine suspects it arrested and detained since August 26 over a case of kidnap in Delta State to the State police command for proper investigation and prosecution if necessary.

In a statement, yesterday, signed by chairman of the CDHR in Delta State, Mr. Oghenejabor Ikimi, the group said, “We hereby condemn the continual detention in custody of an alleged nine man- kidnap gang consisting of Messrs Thankgod Alfred Bubor, Jacob Igboyomi, Joe Oghenekevwe, Terry Ereri, Alaki Ufuoma, George Ayiwe, Bomadi Arugbo and June Okon by operatives of the military Joint Task Force (JTF) in Effurun, Delta State since Wednesday, the 26th day of August, 2009 without trial,  as same is jungle justice.”

The group then “called on the Commander of the military JTF, Major General Sarkin Yarkin_Bello to immediately order the handing over of the above suspects without fail to the Police.”
