ASABA—CHAIRMAN of Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr. Daniel Mayuku, has called on Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) to forward details of all awarded jobs to facilitate the approval of the Commission’s 2009 budget.
Mayuku, in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Commission which was made available to the press yesterday, stated that “whereas the State House of Assembly has received the proposed revenue and capital estimates of your Commission for the 2009 budgetary year and consequent upon its committal to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations, the onus demand that the Committee conduct adequate analysis of items of expenditures provided for in the proposed estimates. In connection, therefore, you are requested to forward details of all awarded jobs that are based on the 2007 approved annual budget, 2008, and supplementary budgets which are appearing in the proposed 2009 estimatesâ€.
It added that “disclosures should also be made of all approved on-going jobs not appearing in your proposed 2009 estimatesâ€.
Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, had last August, sent a budget proposal of N30 billion for the Commission to the State House of Assembly for approval.
A breakdown of the proposal shows that N21.5b is for capital expenditure, while N8.4b is for recurrent expenditure.
