UGHELLIâ€”Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ughelli South local government council chairmanship election, Mr. Dennis Djoma, winner of the last Saturday polls.
Chairman of DSIEC , Justice Samuel Jaho, in a statement disclosed that Djoma polled 19,846, representing 79.95 per cent of the 24,823 total votes that were cast during the election. According the terse statement, â€œat the end of election by the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission for the office of chairman of Ughelli South local government area on Saturday, September 26, 2009, the following results were declared by the chief electoral officer/local government returning officer.
â€œLagbah Joseph (Accord Party), 1,302 (5.24 per cent), Accord Party (without name of candidate 22 (0.09 per cent), Obiogu Ejobor (Labour Party) 1,822 (7.34 per cent), Alfred Joseph (NDP), 884 (3.56 per cent), Djoma Dennis (PDP), 19,846 (79.95 per cent) andÂ Onoriobarefe Terry (PPP) 947 (3.82 per cent.
â€œFrom the above analysis, PDP candidate Djoma Dennis, having scored the highest number of valid votes of 19.846 representing 79.95 per cent of the total votes cast in all the wards where elections were duly conducted and concluded, is hereby declared the winner of the election .â€
