LAGOS – Former sole administrator of the defunct Nigerian Airways Limited, General Olu Bajowa (rtd) has commended the Governor Olusegun Mimiko administration of Ondo State for immortalizing the late legal icon and social crusader, Chief Gani Fawehinmi by naming a diagnostic centre after him.
General Bajowa a former Chairman, Committee on relocation of the Federal Capital Territory from Lagos to Abuja, in a condolence letter to the Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko described the honour done to the late legal icon as deserving to a worthy son.
He said late Chief Gani Fawehimin was a rare gem whose kind may take over century to come by.Â According to him, though the late activist could not be honored with a Nobel Peace Prize, immortalizing him for what he stood for as a worthy son of Ondo and Nigeria in general was commendable.
He said, â€œ I was in the United Kingdom when I heard of the death of Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) a legal icon and an illustrious son of Ondo state and indeed Nigeria, who left his footprints on the sand of time.
