By Ise-Oluwa Ige

ABUJA—The Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIAL), Prof Epiphany Azinge (SAN) yesterday advised the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) against issuing driving licence to applicants without medical record indicating their good sight, normal blood pressure with stable mental and heart conditions.

Azinge who also canvassed the introduction of periodic health checks on drivers who already bore the driving licences said making production of medical certificate from specialist medical practitioners a pre-condition for issuance of driving licence would drastically reduce incidence of road accidents in the country.

He spoke yesterday at the commissioning of two mobile clinics for rescue of accident victims by Sojourners Medicare Foundation. He is incidentally the founder of the Foundation.

The mobile clinics are to patrol Abuja-Lokoja and Abuja-Kaduna roads everyday between 6am to 6pm.
