Vivian Chukwuemeka, Africa women shot put Champion, has declared that she would retire from active competition honourably and would not want to be disgraced out of action just as she described as ‘wicked’ the rumour emanating from the Athletics Federation of Nigeria that she alongside some of the female athletes that allegedly failed dope tests at the just concluded IAAF World Championship in Berlin are Lesbians.

Chukwuemeka said the allegations have just confirmed her fears that certain people in the AFN were bent on seeing her downfall as she described their actions as ‘damaging’.

Bemoaning the over a decade she has put in athletics, the African shot put queen said the AFN which is supposed to stand by her and  others that allegedly failed the drug test was working against them.

“Maybe because I’m not married that is why they are having different opinion about me. I have a relationship and must I go to the whole world to announce that so, so and so person is my boyfriend just to prove to them that I am not a lesbian? And for God’s sake, what does failing drug test got to do with Lesbianism?, she asked angrily when she was responding to questions at the Nigeria Football Federation secretariat yesterday.

Threatening a law suit for defamation of character, Chukwuemeka said, “That will definitely mean somebody is trying to spoil my name. I do not know where all these are coming out from and that is to tell you how corrupt the association is. Why will they go there?

She maintained that dope test failure or not, she will not be forced to retire from what she loves doing so much, stressing that she will not dump the sport just because there is a problem.

Chukwuemeke stated further that, “I’ll fight the case to prove my innocence and I’m waiting to appear before the committee that was formed to look into the case to pour out everything that I know.

“Heads will roll in AFN; people will go down with this problem by the time I expose what is going on in that federation. Since people are bent on me going down, then we all must go down. If it’s dirty, we will all fight” she threatened.
