Ogbemudia denies report of Oshiomhole’s apology visit

By Gabriel Enogholase
BENIN—TWO-time governor of the defunct Bendel State, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia, has denied media reports that the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, sneaked into his house last month to apologise to him, and was treated to a sumptuous dinner and lavish drinks.

Ogbemudia, who spoke through his Special Adviser, Mr. Iro Omorodion, in a statement in Benin weekend, described the report as a mischief and advised mischief-makers to desist from their campaign of calumny.

He said that the aim of the mischief-makers was to cause disaffection between himself and Governor Adams Oshiomhole, having failed in their previous attempts.

According to him, “Comrade Governor is an intelligent and bold man who would apologize to Dr. S.O. Ogbemudia publicly, just as he publicly demanded the returns of the vehicle.

“Dr. Ogbemudia’s house is open to all, including Comrade Oshiomhole, if he decides to visit him. In any case, Dr. Ogbemudia is entitled to a visit from his governor.

“Dr. Ogbemudia has since put the issue of the withdrawal of his vehicles behind him and stated while returning the vehicles that the development of Edo State must not be interrupted by the interest of one man (Ogbemudia) because the state was greater than an individual. He still stands by this statement”.

A national daily (not the Vanguard) had reported that Governor Adams Oshiomhole sneaked into Dr. Ogbemudia’s house where he apologized over his ordering the return of vehicles attached to the former governor by previous administrations in the state.
