In a renewed effort to place its latest product in the fore front, MTN Nigeria said it is entering the market with MTN Eye, as it sponsors 12 golfers to Spain.
The productÂ a new traffic monitoring device, the company said, isÂ a demonstration ofÂ its commitment to providing innovative products and services,
Though still in its pilot stage, the value_added product was demonstrated to MTN customers during the gala night that rounded off the Western qualifiers of the MTN World Golfers Championship, which was held penultimate week at the Ikeja Golf Club.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN Nigeria, Mr Kola Oyeyemi, said that the brand would not relent in its drive to make life easier for its subscribers, while it isÂ taking its service delivery to a new height.
â€œWe believe that the phone should be more than just a medium for making calls, and with the MTN Eye, the constant challenge of navigating through the ever busy streets of Lagos and some other parts of the country will soon be a thing of the past.â€
The product is designed to lend an eye to the networkâ€™s subscribers by giving them an insight into the traffic situation along various routes within the country. It will provide updated pictures and video clips showing the traffic situation of major roads.
The service was described by some of the subscribers present at the event as a true â€œlife_enhancer.â€ They were sure that it would go a long way in tackling the seemingly intractable problem of traffic congestion in Lagos State and beyond.
Some of the other innovative products recently launched by the company include the DSTV Mobile which affords MTN subscribers the very rare opportunity to watch selected DSTV channels on their mobile phones; MTN Google SMS and Video Cam.
Further, Oyeyemi said that forÂ three years MTN had sponsored the golf competition, â€œbut like what it had done in the past two years, it has been just golf, â€œbut today, we are making a difference and that is why we brought innovation into golfing.â€
