Jigawa police investigates ex-Commissioner over alleged ritual killing

Dutse -  Jigawa State Police Command has begun thorough investigation of an ex-Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Alhaji Umar Abba Kukuma, for his alleged involvement in the ritual killing of two children in Birnin-Kudu Local Government Area of the state which occurred last week.

Speaking to newsmen in his office, the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abdullahi Salisu Fana explained that already the accused, Kukuma was in police custody answering questions related to the case, adding that the command has equally drafted its men to Birnin-Kudu town to maintain peace and order. Despite the return of normalcy in the town, the Zonal Police Command of Birnin-Kudu has restrained movement to between 8pm-6am.

Fana stated further that since the first information about the incident was published in most of the national dailies, the police will not hesitate to pre-empt the issue as investigation is currently going on, pointing out that police require the assistance of some people who will complement the ongoing police investigations into the alleged killings of the two children.

Last week, the ex-Commissioner,  presently Secretary of Buji Local Government, Alhaji Abba Umar Kukuma was accused of allegedly killing two children namely Auwalu Bala and Abba Magaji, aged 2  and 3 years, respectively, which led to the destruction of his residence and his vehicles by irate mobs of the town.
