Ijaw leader urges govt to fish out attackers of passengers’ boat

WARRI—PROMINENT Ijaw leader from Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West council area of Delta State, Prince Clement Bebenimibo, has charged the government and security agencies to fish out the youths who attacked an Itsekiri owned passenger boat, killing one person and injuring several others.

The boat was attacked last Thursday along the Escravos waterways.
He said it was sad that just as the Ijaws were returning to their devastated homes in Gbaramatu kingdom in pains, it was unthinkable for any persons to carry out such wicked attack on their immediate neighbour in so short a time of resettlement and appealed to the Ugborodo people to see the ugly incident as the handiwork of a few misguided elements.

Prince Bebenimibo, a management consultants, called on all community leaders in the Escravos axis to call their youths to order for the sake of unity, peace, harmonious relationship and good neighbourliness.

He noted that Itsekiri and Ijaws were brothers and neighbours suffering the same gross marginalisation, deprivation, degradation, oppression and suppression from the federal government of Nigeria.

He urged both ethnic groups to completely sink their differences in the present circumstances and join forces to confront the federal government for their inalienable rights, royalties and other privileges as they together produce the wealth of the country.

Condemning the attack on the passenger’s market boat in its entirety and expressing his condolence to the family of the deceased and all those injured, Prince Bebenimibo requested the JTF and the state government to deploy the necessary machinery towards fishing out the pirates for prosecution to serve as deterrence to others.
