Freight Forwarders’ crisis: ANLCA Western zone gives BOT one week ultimatum

By Godwin Oritse
THE Western zone of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has given Henry Njoku led Board of Trustee one week  ultimatum to meet with them on the issue of the election in the zone or face the consequences of whatever action leadership of zone takes.

The ultimatum was given at the end of a meeting of all chapters in the zone last week in Lagos  where members of the group also  passed a vote of no confidence on the Board of Trustee and called for a general meeting to resolve issues that have brought about crisis in the association.

The convener of the meeting Chief James Idornigie had a herculean task in calming frayed nerves as members of the association called for the forceful dissolution of the Board of Trusee.

It will be recalled that the board had through its constituted Association of Electoral Committee (ASECO) conducted three different chapter elections that failed as most of the elections were marred by money bags who tried to buy peoples’ votes. Idornigie also advised that all election arrangements in the zone be suspended until a full reconciliation between the Board and members of the Western zone is attained.     Members accused Chief Henry Njoku, BOT chairman of creating problems not only in the Western Zone, but also in the Eastern Zone where he hails from.

It was also decided that all future elections conducted by the present B O T constituted ASECO will be boycotted by all members of the zone. Some of the recommendation reached at the meeting are that the defunct Inua Mohammed led ASECO should be looked into with a view to reconstituting another Commission that will conduct a free and fair election and that the two suspended chapter chairmen should reinstated .

Part of the re commendation reads “that all election arrangements in the Zone be suspended forthwith to allow full reconciliation before election.“That a letter should be written to the B O T chairman  to stop any proposed election as the constitution of the association with regards to election matters has breached the rules”.

Meanwhile, the crisis rocking the group has taken a new dimensions as unconfirmed reports says that the son of the leading figure (names withed)was recently abducted and released after a ransom was paid.Effort to reached the father of the kidnaped victim was futile as his phone numbers were not going through.
