The Chairman of the Print media committee for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Bolaji Adebiyi,  said yesterday that Nigeria Football Federation has assured that the Eaglets would be ready for the event.

Recent Magnetic Resonance Test conducted revealed that 29 of the 36 players in camp were overage but Adebiyi said that the team would still make impact at the global event.

He said, “No doubt, it is a big issue but we have so many talented players in the country that can fill the vacuum created  in the team.
“Nigeria is the defending champion and we are still going to be all out to win again here in Nigeria. FIFA Vice-President, Jack Warner, was surprised the way Bauchi was transformed in readiness for the competition and that is exactly what we are going to do with the country’s representatives.”

Adebiyi said his sub committee was ready to boost the awareness level of the event holding between October 24 and November 15 in eight cities across the country.

He argued that South Africa 2010 World Cup holding next year was having better media attention than the forthcoming event in Nigeria.
“We just have to change that and embrace Nigeria 2009. This is a competition for the youth and since they are the leaders of tomorrow, we have to celebrate the competition.“The LOC is working hard in all aspects to make this event a great one for all the visitors,” Adebiyi added.
