BENINâ€”CHAIRMANÂ of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Prof. Jonas Redwood Sawyer and the Registrar of the Council, Mrs. MulikatÂ Bello have described the Benin monarch, Oba Erediauwa, as a pillar of support and trusted friend of the examination body.
Both officals of WEAC were in the palace of the Benin monarch weekend to express the councilâ€™s appreciation to the Oba over his continued support.
Prof. Sawyer, who is also the Deputy Vice-ChancellorÂ of Fourabay College, Freetown in Sirerra Leone, while thanking the monach for his yearly award of exellence for the best West African Examination Councilâ€™s male and female candidates in Nigeria, pleaded with him to continue to assist the examination body .
He disclosed to the Oba that the council had great plans to lift the body to an enviable height in the West African sub-region, adding that he was very impressed with what he saw in the ancient city of Benin.
The WEAC chairman also used the visit to express the appreciaion of the Sierra Leonian people to Nigeria in its efforts at restoring peace to his country.
On her part, Mrs. Bello who is the first Nigerian female to be appointed Registrar described the Benin Monach as a role model whose value for education stands him out among traditional rulers in the counry.
