AP: Reps disown c’ttee’s clearance of Dangote

By Luka Binniyat

ABUJA – The leadership of House of Representatives  yesterday dissociated itself from the report of its Committee on Capital Market made available to newsmen last Friday.

The report had absolved the President/CEO of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, of alleged involvement in African Petroleum (AP) Plc hybrid offer share manipulation.

The Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr.  Eseme Eyiboh, said it was a private opinion of the Chairman of the Committee, Ahmed Wadada, and has “no endorsement of the leadership and the entire House of Representatives.”

It could be recalled that the House of Representatives Committee on Capital Market got the nod of the House last April to intervene in the bickering between Dangote and the Chairman of AP Plc, Mr. Femi Otedola, over allegations that  Dangote and Nova Finance and Securities Limited connived to manipulate the share price of AP at the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE).
