As the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Super Eagles Chief Coach, Shaibu Amodu continue to strategise on how to dislodge the Carthage Eagles when they come calling on September 6 for the crucial World Cup qualifier at the Abuja National Stadium, former Flying Eagles coach, Tunde Disu has offered Amodu tips on how to approach the match.
The former Julius Berger Football Club coach said the Eagles must go hard on the Tunisians because they “will be coming with an intent to frustrate the Eagles in Abuja.â€
Speaking on a Metro FM sports programme monitored in Lagos, the bearded coach known for his American phonetics said that the Nwankwo Kanu-led Eagles must also make sure that apart from going hard on the North Africans, “should ensure that they score at least two goals in the first 15 minutes,†to disorganise them.
Disu who handled the Flying Eagles to defeat the then USSR in the quarter final of the 1989 World Youth Championship on penalties after cancelling a 4-0 deficit in what was later termed ‘Damman Miracle’ also advised Amodu to ensure his wards do not play a slow game because “the Tunisians are very fast.â€
He stressed that the Eagles must not play to their antics and should match them in all departments of the game to ensure that the maximum points are secured to help the Eagles topple the Carthage Eagles on the group table.
