The Presidential Task Force for Nigeriaâ€™s 2010 World Cup qualification yesterday confirmed that 36 governors, all the federal ministers, captains of industries and President Umaru Musa Yarâ€˜Adua would be present for the special dinner at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, this evening.
The PTF in the letter sent to the dignitaries disclosed that Nigeriaâ€™s qualification for the global footballÂ in 2010 must be pursued with all the countryâ€™s might.
â€œThe year 2010 is very important in the history of Nigeria and the next three matches are crucial and must be won if Nigeria must qualify,â€ the letter stated.
Secretary of the PTF, Dr. Patrick Ekeji, disclosed that the task force has received commitment from the governors and the business monguls invited for the dinner. Ekeji also said that President Yarâ€˜Adua has agreed to be the chairman of the occasion while Vice President Goodluck Jonathan will be in attendance.
Aside from the government might, the scribe of the PTF added that captains of industry like Dr. Mike Adenuga Jn, Alhaji Aliko Dangoke, Femi Otedola and others have indicated their support for Nigeriaâ€™s qualification for the World Cup as they have agreed to grace the occasion.
While briefing the press recently, chairman of the PTF, Gov. Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State expressed optimism that raising the N2.3b would not be a problem as he was ready toÂ involve all his friends and patriotic Nigerians who want the countryâ€™s flag flown in South Africa in 2010.
