NO fewer than 250,000 youths drawn from churches across Lagos area are expected to attend the Success Academy for Youths (SAY 2009), the Deeper Christian Life Ministry announced Monday. The church is playing host to what could turn out to be the largest gathering of young people in a camp meeting in Lagos.
A statement signed by the church secretary said the event, which holds from today to Sunday at the Church’s Conference Centre, Kilometre 42, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, would be attended by youths drawn from churches under the umbrella of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
The statement said the programme with the theme: “Soaring to greater heights,†will feature among others, “proven techniques for passing examinations; practical and tested principles for all round success; powerful challenges from great achievers; personal revival and renewal messages and prevailing prayers over the forces of failure.â€
The chief host, Pastor William F. Kumuyi, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, urged parents to release their children and wards for the programme.
He is looking forward to the event with great expectation as he has fully prepared to be a channel of blessing to the youth at the five-day meeting.
Also to grace the occasion are other resource persons of international repute drawn from different fields of human endeavour, as well as officials from such agencies as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, etc.
The Success Academy for Youths (SAY) programme made its debut in 2001 at the National Stadium, Lagos. It was a huge success with over 100,000 youths in attendance. Over the years, the programme has continued to make positive impacts in the lives of youths, families as well as the Nigerian society in general. Testimonies of God’s marvellous works at SAY programmes had attracted the attention of governments, corporate and other religious bodies.
The statement from Deeper Life Bible Church said that adequate security arrangements have been made to ensure a hitch-free programme. The church has also assured participants of adequate provision of food and other necessities at the event.
