Paramount rulers condemn ceding of 76 oil wells to A-Ibom

CALABAR—Paramount Rulers from the Northern Senatorial District of Cross River State under the aegis of Northern Senatorial District Forum of Paramount Rulers, have joined in condemning the decision to cede 76 oil wells from the state to Akwa Ibom.

They also condemned the de-listing of the state from the league of oil producing states, describing it as a plan to forment crisis in the otherwise peaceful state.

In a letter sent to Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State, dated July 2, and signed by six paramount rulers from the district, the rulers rejected and condemned it in its entirety and appealed to all relevant federal authorities responsible for that decision to reverse it immediately, as it was likely to cause untold crisis.

They assured Governor Imoke of their solidarity and unflinching support for whatever may be done to restore the 76 oil wells to Cross River State

The six signatories include HRH Uti J. D. Agba, paramount ruler of Obudu Local Government Area, HRH Ubet S. U. Ochim, paramount ruler of Yala Local GovernmentArea, HRH Ntol G.I Adima, paramount ruler of Ogoja Local GovernmentArea, HRH Stephen U. Omang (KSM), paramount ruler of Bekwarra Local Government Area, HRH Uchua Cyprian S. U. Ashang, paramount ruler of Obanliku Local GovernmentArea and HRH Otu Fredaline Enka Akando, paramount ruler of Boki LGA.
