Ogun: Rights group condemns political crisis

Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CCSO) has decried the serial political crises bedevilling Ogun State in recent times and particularly the last publication of a photograph of “nude photographs of a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly whilst ‘supposedly’ taking a secret oath” which has triggered “counter-accusations and fresh allegations of fetish escapades have been leveled against notable political office holders and prominent citizens”.

The group in a statement signed by its convener, Mr. Francis Abayomi condemned the urgly political situation in the Gateway state.

“Genuine lovers of democracy must, no doubt, be perturbed by recent development in the Gateway State. We, therefore, openly condemn attempt to destabilize governance in Ogun State through ceaseless political crises. We call on genuine stakeholders in the political process in Ogun State to guide against external forces whose interest is to exploit crisis situation for selfish political agenda.

“We equally condemn attempt at demonizing democratic leadership through flimsy and hazy accusations; particularly through a section of the media. We demand objectivity and fairness in media coverage of the crisis in Ogun State in the interest of democracy, peace and stability”, the organisation stated.
