NSE debunks Dangote’s likely emergence as next NSE president

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has denied speculations of the likely emergence of its First Vice President, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, as the President of its Council, come August 6, when the tenure of the current President is expected to elapse.

Speaking to Vanguard, Wednesday, Mr. Sola Oni, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Affairs, disclosed that it has no foreknowledge of who will eventually emerge as the President of the Council, noting that it is only after the conclusion of the election process by Council members, at the close of the Annual General meeting (AGM) that the new president would be known.

Speaking further, he noted that the agenda for the forthcoming AGM, include; the receipt of the financial statements of the NSE and the report of its auditors, to elect/re-elect members of Council and to authorise the Council members to fix remuneration of Auditors.
