Kogi Police arrest 4 over alleged murder

LOKOJA — THE Police in Kogi State have arrested members of a four-man gang who allegedly attacked and murdered Sadiat Mohammed, a secondary shool student, in Ankpa Local Government Area of the state.

According to the police, members of the gang were said to have laid ambush for their victim on a route on the outskirts of  the Ankpa town and killed her over dispute on the ownership of a mobile phone.

Vanguard learnt that the gang had already confessed to the killing of the 17-year-old girl and their involvement in other heinous crimes in the area.

Confirming the arrests to Vanguard yesterday, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr. Ogbona, said the suspects had been moved to Abuja for further interrogations.

The DPO said trouble started for the deceased when she was accosted by the gang to hand over the said mobile phone which they claimed belong to one of the boys.

He said the mobile phone with which the foursome claimed ownership was actually bought for the deceased by one of her uncles, adding that she was in the process of producing the receipt when she was overpowered and murdered.
