Gunmen kidnap patent medicine dealer’s wife

GUNMEN have kidnapped Mrs. Joyce Okpare, wife of a patent medicine dealer, Mr. Moses Okpare, at Ovwian in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

She was kidnapped at the weekend while entering her residential compound at Doroh Street, off Orhuwhorun in Udu by the gunmen who swooped on her at the gate and commandered her into a waiting vehicle.

A relation to her husband told Sunday Vangaurd that Mr. Okpare collapsed when the news of the kidnap of his wife got to him.

The relation disclosed that the kidnappers called Mr. Okpare later demaning N6,000 recharge cards to enable them discuss the terms of releasing his wife but the gangsters have not contacted the family after the recharge cards were sent. Mrs. Okpare was abductd few minutes after she left her husband’s medicine store at Orhuwhorun junction at about 9.00am.

The Urhobo Monitoring and Development Group has already given the kidnappers a 72-hour ultimatum to release the victim.

The group in a statement signed by both the chairman and secretary of the Udu chapter, Hon. Andrew Gbise and Hon. James Ovedje respectively, urged the kidnappers to steer clear of Udu.
