Akure – FIVE gun trotting kidnappers on yesterday stormed the Ore/Irele Oil Palm Company in Ondo State and took away its Managing Director Mr Richard Awofisayo.

Vanguard gathered that the kidnappers who were armed to the teeth invaded the company situated along Irele road in a Nissan vehicle and whisked away Awofisayo.

Police authorities in the state said yesterday that efforts are on to ensure his release from the kidnappers.

But a family source says that the kidnappers have contacted Awofisayo family and a particular amount has been demanded as ransom before his release.

The latest kidnap in the state is coming barely a month after two women were kidnapped and released four days after.

One of the kidnapped women is the wife of the state Lands Commissioner Alhaji Sikiru Basaru (Iyabo) while the other (Sola) is that of a Permanent Secretary in the state Dr Alli.

It was reliably learnt that the kidnappers on arrival at the company premises shot sporadically to scare away the workers following which they marched to the office of Awofisayo and picked him up.
The whereabout of Awofisayo as at the time of filling in this report is still unknown even to his family and the police

Speaking on the development, the Ore Division Police Officer Mr. Abu Olanipekun said that they are still searching for the victim.

Olanipekun pointed out that necessary security measures have been put in place to track down the kidnappers and ensure the release and safety of the victim.

According to him “We have made necessary arrangements to ensure that the kidnappers are exposed and brought to book. We have sent signals to all the states commands in the country and I want to assure you that our efforts will not be in vain”

The police it was also learnt as not been able to contact his abductors but the kidnappers Vanguard learnt had contacted the families of Awofisayo to discuss the amount of ransom to be paid.

Family of Awofisayo it was learnt have started mobilizing to ensure the release of their bread winner.

It could not be confirmed if they have agreed to pay the ransom demanded by the kidnappers or the company would pay it.

Other security operatives in the state have equally swing into action to ensure the release of Awofisayo.

Meanwhile, palpable tension and fear has enveloped the riverine area of the state following the ugly development.

Speaking with Vanguard, the police Image Maker Adeniran Aremu said that the police in the state are on top of the situation and would soon effect the release of Awofisayo.

Aremu said that the police authorities in the state have started a manhunt for the kidnappers and would soon smoke them out of their hiding.

He described the development as ugly and unhealthy.
