Asaba—A 70-year-old mother of the Chairman of Board of Directors of Delta Arts Council, Mrs. Igoru Eruvbedede, has been kidnapped, with the kidnappers asking for N20 million ransom.

Vanguard gathered that she was abducted in her home at Uduophori, Patani local government area of the state at about 7.30pm by three armed men.

The incident which, took place about a week ago, has jolted the entire family, especially the son, Mr. Jerry Eruvbedede, who is believed to be wealthy and capable of paying the ransom.

Probably due to poor telephone network, the kidnappers were said to have established contact with the family through a letter they allegedly wrote and delivered through an Okada (commercial motor cycle operator), informing the family and the community on on how to reach them (kidnappers) at their hideout.

Contacted, the State Police spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), confirmed the incident, saying “we are on that matter investigating the circumstances surrounding the kidnap.”
