FG’s decision on PTI, policy sumersault —Maku

By Daniel Gumm
KOKO—THE Federal Government sponsored Petroleum Bill and its decision to transfer the Petroleum University from Effurun, Delta State to Kaduna has been described as “a policy somersault that was ill-conceived, ill-advised and illogical.”

This view was expressed on Monday by the Chairman of oil-bearing Abigborodo community in Delta State, Mr. Francis Eyituoyor-Maku.

He said “the issue has opened a pandora box of fresh discontent and agitation over resource control in the Niger Delta.”

Eyituoyor-Maku who extolled the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and other South-South governors for their collective position taken on the issue, advised: “I want the governors to be on the alert for any form of blackmail they may likely face for their courageous dissent with a policy that is anathema to the Niger Delta  and its people. Such tactics was adopted in the past and it is likely to be employed again.”
