Delta PDP boss: Aniocha South councillors send SOS to Uduaghan

OGWASHI UKU—FOR daring to sign an impeachment notice against their chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Sorokwu, nine councillors of the 14 in the legislative arm of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State have been suspended by the state chairman of the ruling PDP, Chief. Peter Nwaoboshi.

The embattled councillors, along with the chairman of the party in the local government,  Dr. Ikechukwu Enwenwa, who was also suspended have sent an SOS to the state Police command, and have reportedly petitioned the state governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan on the matter, alleging threat to their lives.

Leader of the legislative arm of the council, Mr. Pius Eziashi, representing Ward 14 who is among the nine councillors that signed the impeachment notice  on June 24, already sent to the State House of Assembly for ratification in the last week of June in an interview in Asaba alleged:

“There is threat to our  lives. There had been anonymous threat calls but we are not folding our arms. We are going to formally alert the state Police command”.

In a four-page impeachment notice made available to Vanguard, the councillors had listed the alleged offences of the local government council chairman, Mr Emmanuel Sorokwu to include “administrative incompetence, financial impropriety, non-compliance with Delta State Local Government Laws and Hamstringing of the legislature”.

Efforts to get comments from Sorokwu proved abortive as at the time of this report.
