Professor E.F. Alufohai, has been appointed Acting Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State. He took over from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. D.O. Aigbomian whose 5-year tenure ended on 3rd June, 2009, exactly the same day that the mantle of administration changed hands.
At the hand-over ceremony in which a former Vice Chancellor, Prof. J.E.A. Osemeikhian, Deans, Directors and other senior officers were present, the out-gone Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aigbomian thanked all in the university for their support which resulted in the successful completion of his tenure and also congratulated the Acting Vice Chancellor on his new appointment.

In a special release signed by Chris Adamaigbo, Deputy Registrar, Information/Public Relations Officer, Prof. Aigbomian was said to have highlighted various achievements recorded during his tenure in office since June 3rd, 2004 to June 3rd, 2009, attributing them to “God’s divine intervention and the co-operation he received from al stakeholders of this great university.”

While he listed some of the challenges ahead and called on the Acting VC to pursue them with vigour, he also enjoined all staff and students to support the new head of the institution in order to make his tenure successful.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Alufohai expressed gratitude to the Governing Council and Senate of the university for finding him suitable for the position of Acting Vice Chancellor.

“By the special grace of God, I will do all within my power to bring good governance to bear in the administration of this university as well as midwife the process leading to the appointment of a substantive Vice Chancellor to a successful end,” he promised.

The high pont of the ceremony was the signing of the handing over note by the out-gone Vice Chancellor and the Acting Vice Chancellor.
